FRAUDULENT CHARGE

Had a fraudulent charge which was credited back. However attached to that chage was a foreign transaction fee that now includes a minimum interest charge. After 7 phone calls and numerous hours holding for nothing I was assured it would come off. Ive now been on hold again for 1 hour so far and no one responds. This is a matter of principle and Merrick Back is a rip off.

User's recommendation: They give credit to anyone for a price. That was fine 12 years ago after returning to this country after many years abroad. I have a high credit line and don’t use it because they give nothing except aggravation! MERRICK IS A BIG NO WAY

I have been for 3 hrs. on an International call from Belize, Central America

I have a Merrick Bank credit card and I am currently residing in Belize, Central America. My mailing address and my Bank - US Bank is in Milwaukee, where my pension funds etc are direct deposited every month.

This morning, I attempted to make a purchase here in Punta Gorda with my Merrick Bank credit and was told my card is declined.

I called Merrick Bank to find out the reason for the block on my card.

I spent 45 minutes waiting on an International phone call, at my expense, and when the Merrick Bank agent finally answered the phone, she told me she has to transfer my call to the fraud department. I spent another 45 minutes waiting on the line for the Fraud Dept to pick up the phone. And when the Fraud Dept staff answered the phone, she told me she has to transfer me to the Security Dept.

She transferred me and I have been waiting for about 50 minutes and still waiting as I file this report and to date I am still holding.

While I appreciate Merrick Bank giving me a line of credit, I am completely disgusted at Merrick Bank for treating me this way.

I am still waiting for the Security Department to pick up.

I am paying for this 3 hrs International Call from Belize and still counting.

Its about time to bring back the Dodd-Frank Banking Law.

I will contact the US Sen. Elizabeth Warren's and register my complaint as well.

If you don’t want the bank protecting your account, tell them you will sign a paper that they are to let every charge go through, always, and you accept all responsibility. If you check your terms of service, they are allowed to decline purchases if fraud is suspected.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. They completed my request and closed the account.

Of course, in keeping with their lousy attitude, the confirmation letter was somewhat pointed and sarcastic.

They never did address the issues that caused me to close the account or apologize for the situations they put me through. I'm just as glad to be done with them.

I've had my credit card with Merrick for over 2 years with a decent credit limit, though far below other cards I have. In the time I have had their card, I have always paid my balance in full every month.

I have never filed a dispute or had any fraud occur on the account. Yet the past 3 times I've tried to use my account, the card has been declined. Each time I would call their so-called customer service, only to be told there was a fraud alert on my card and they would remove it and I could go ahead with my purchase. Of course, by then, I had already used a different card to complete my purchase.

They, of course, would always apologize "for the inconvenience", which supposedly was to cover my embarrassment and the ridiculous amount of time I would have to spend getting their automated phone system to connect me to a live person. Now, I realize there is a lot od credit card fraud. I have other cards that on occasion decline a purchase, but I then receive an instantaneous text asking if I just attempted the purchase and texting back an immediate "YES" clears my card to re-submit it for the purchase within seconds of the decline. Merrick, on the other hand, just declines and leaves it here unless you spend forever trying to call them.

And, I'm not even talking big purchases. This has happened now with purchases ranging from $50-$120 on an account with plenty of credit and a zero balance. This last time was the final straw and I told them where they could shove their credit card and closed the account. That did get an immediate email response, very tersly closing the account and waring me that if I closed it, I could never re-open it again.

What good is a credit card if you can never make a charge on it?

Interestingly, I never have any problem with my Chase, Discover or Capital One cards, all of which have very high limits. 111merrick apparently does not want responsible customers who always pay on-time, in full and never have a single problem on their account.

Not being able to reach anyone directly and the automated response is 1 to 3 days which is unacceptable when you need to get in contact with them and it’s a matter of urgency

Wanting to discuss the maturity date of a CD with a limited time to discuss either renewal or transferring funds, was not able to reach anybody in response. Automated response was one to three days which was totally unacceptable and still have not heard back even though Ive sent messages to their support system line along with emails, but the phone number which is supposed to be customer service says its not available

Stop sending me emails, letters or correspondence of any kind. I have tried calling to speak to someone about this but without success. There is no where in your email:correspondence that one can "opt out of receiving correspondence from Merrick Bank. Was charged fees before getting the card or even the account number or activating the account. Called customer service and basically was told "That's how we do things". Had I been aware of that before applying I would have not applied for a credit card through Merrick. Can't cancel now because I owe money on an account that I don't even have a number for or the actual card. Was also told all the user agreement info will be with the card. I received no email about approval or user agreements, was also told "we don't send emails about that"

My problem is That I feel like I have done good by This Bank and this is the only time that about went over and I caught it and I sent a payment of $50 in to take care of it so that when the interest went on it would not go over but the statement is not even showing $50 gone in 14 July like it should be and I got a big runaround from everybody Ive talked to at customer serviceEspecially the guy I talked to last saying that Merrick Bank couldnt do nothing to help me after sending my info to the credit bureau which knocked my credit score down eight points.He said it was sent electronically kept saying he had nothing to do with the credit bureau I was not even talking to him about that and he just kept saying I had to contact the credit bureau and on the last he laughed at me and told me that its a virtual bank Ive had this card since 21 and no one has ever told me that and I dont appreciate being laughed at. im sure that I even made more than my minimum sometimes when I could well he wants to talk about is the cash advances that was taken out well in my opinion if you dont want cash advances took out then you shouldnt have them on there. I was talking to people and tell them how good Card this was but it will never happen again unless something is straightened up and you straighten my credit back up and then Ill consider it.
