Merrick Bank did not clear my payment check after 1 week receives; late charge occurs every time. This is unacceptable. I would not recommend Merrick Bank to Student or concern consumer with busy schedule with their life.

I had contact them several times but their answer was "what if question" is what they use for project their cons systems.

There customer service was not very concern in trying to answer consumer questions but rather try to use excuses of "what if method" again to bypass of why their system always delay your credit card information payment method. I would strongly not recommend this Bank.

They haven't changed much. Still charging "late fees" for payments made 10 days before due date.

I received my first bill today. I called to pay "in full", I was told that there would be a 10.00 fee if paid by phone.

I went to there website and found that it was unsecured (read the disclaimer). After checking them out online I was afraid to pay by mail.

I bit the bullet paid the the 10.00 and the bill in full. They said my account would be credited in 2 to 3 days. We'll see!

In doing some research because of reoccurring late charges by Merrick, I found this site. All of you are right.

No matter when I send a payment in, coincidentally, the payment is never recieved until one day after the due date.

Imagine that and then I am dinged a 35.00 late fee. I am about to contact the Attorney General's Office and I suggest everyone do likewise.

Merrick bank is one of the most money hungry banks I ever delt with. Really we can write a million blogs and still banks like merrick will continue to keep people down,to me it seems like that's their job...

to get your money give you bad credit and kick you to the curb.I don't care if you always make your payments on time or if your late they will still find a way to bring you and your credit down because they suck and I think they are really credit haters!!

Please!! people stay away from (merrick bank credit haters).

In January I signed up for auto-payment. The gut put me on 40 a month 2 days after the bill was due, I never rec'd my online bill and after receiving a letter that my acct was frozen I found out that this CSR had structured my acct to receive a $35 late charge each month.

My husband was sick and

and died in May and by the time I discovered (it was way too late. I offered to pay the full balance and they are still taking my 40 a month, They said I would be in default if I stopped which would make my credit worse.

I mailed my payments to Merrick and Capital One the same day. 2 days later, the payment to Capital One has been posted to my account, but the payment to Merrick does not post to my account until another 11 days have passed!

This happens EVERY month: 13-15 days to post a payment!!

Basically I have a 6 day window to mail my payment from when the statement is available online, or I get a late fee. It's time for a class action lawsuit against these scammers.

I always pay my bill online but consolidated all my cards so I paid with a check this time to completely pay it off. The check didnt clear for three weeks so I put a stop pay on it.

I complained to a supervisor who told me to check with the bank that wrote the check. They had the check the WHOLE time and charged me 25 bucks after I put a stop pay for a "returnrd check".

Are you kidding me??? So SHADY!!!!

It seems we all have had this same issue. I received my bill, payed it ASAP and all my other pmts.

for billing time, EVERYONE cleared within 3-4 days of due date EXCEPT MERRICK!! They held (I know its a fact-after 15 days!!!) my pmt. and deposited finally the day AFTER the due date to then post a LATE fee....

I was not the one late, they have FAT *** people sitting around- who are not doing their JOB and collecting OUR late fees!!! They are a SCAM!!!!!

Have SAME late fee and APR increase even though payment was made one week BEFORE due date. Charged late fee anyway and increase in APR.

Beware!

Also another trick is that statements are intentionally mailed late, making it difficult for one to pay in time.

This has happened several times.

Gee, I thought the new banking laws were going to protect us from tactics like this!

Merrick bank sucks, if you would have asked me this a week ago I probably would of said differently. I have had their card since August, I have paid every bill on time except one was ONE day late.

Apparently, that was fine because they raised my limit. Today I call them because My credit limit and outstanding balance didn't equal up. I was told they closed my account. I asked "WHY?

I paid all my payments on time except one?" So basically my credit limit was raised Feb. 1st and they closed my account on Feb. 28th. with no notice.

They said they mailed me a letter I may see that someday. I am ticked that this is what I get in return for paying my bills on time.
