I've had an account with Merrick Bank for many years. After a bankruptcy in 2007 I began rebuilding my credit and Merrick Bank was helpful with this process.

I have to admit, I haven't used the card much of late mostly due to other credit cards offering bonus points for using their card. Last week I received a curt letter stating my credit limit was being reduced immediately from 2500 to 300 and if I didn't use the card in 30 days, it would be cancelled. I called to express my feelings about their customer service ( or lack of it ) regarding this approach and was told this is their policy and they would not change it. My credit score is 750, I have many cards mostly with zero balances as I usually pay balance in 30 days or 90 days.

I have 75,000 buying power on my cards, own my own business and have rebuilt my credit profile.

It is obvious that this company only wants to take advantage of folks with poor credit under the guise of helping people. It's all about the money!

Reason of review: Poor customer service.
