Merrick Bank Customer Care Review from Abington, Pennsylvania
Racist customer service. Talked down to my parents because they aren't fluent in English.
Started mocking them.
If you're a Caucasian English speaking American you'll be perfect for them. Otherwise, they'll be racist to you and display different type of customer...
My dad owned the credit card and doesn't speak fluent English and my mom speaks broken English and instead of helping my parents recover a lost card, the rep on the phone decides to mock and make fun of my mom for her broken English. Regardless of nationality or whatever accent a person speaks I believe as someone in customer service, they should *** their tongue and be kind to their customers. Instead they lost a customer and now will have a bad reputation because of one ignorant representative that speaks for the company. I don't actually believe the company is racist but I believe they hire racist employees who are the face of the company in the most disrerespectful way.
My parents worked hard since they stepped foot in the country and I'll be damned if I ever hear anyone making fun of them. The rep is lucky I wasn't there to hear it because he would have gotten an earful from me and immediately reported to the supervisor.
All I'm saying is, I don't ever want to be associated with anyone so narrow minded. If you're a white English speaking American, I'm sure you'll be a great customer for Merrik bank.

Merrick Bank Website Review from Forest, Virginia
Terrible customer service! I was actually called "rude" by the representative just because I had a complaint!
Could not pay bill on due date because of system error on their website so paid it the next day, a late fee was added so I called to explain and the late fee was removed. BUT they still added the late fee to my min payment due for the next month, which I could not afford. So I paid the regular payment
amount. So they added ANOTHER late fee because I didn't pay the extra for the first late fee.
Kept me on hold for a very long time just to tell me sorry but I would still have to pay the extra $27 but could *** the $37 second fee. I CUT THAT CARD UP AND THREW IT IN THE TRASH!! They lost a customer over $27 !!
How DESPERATE is that!?!? Do not deal with them!!
Identity thief.

Certificate of pre Approval
I received such certificate
did not want to fill it with my personal info.
searched the net for the new applicant , their web site is always redirecting you to another website looks like they are on the business of selling your information to others or hackers.
just like any body wants to rebuilt their credit but looks like this a hokes bank when ever its directing your search to another website even no phone numbers to call for the Pre- approved acceptance certificate.
so I will Trash this certificate and save my information, don't want to go again for identity theft.
and please stop such junk mail
hopefully very soon
No fraud protection
I was overcharged by HERTZ rent a car and also overcharged for an item. HERTZ would do nothing to resolve my issue so I filed a dispute with MERICK.
Even though the Merchant bears the burden of proof, I was able to provide detailed receipts and documentation to back up my claim. Merrick kept asking for more and more from me when I had already given them everything. They refused to resolve the issue so I cancelled my account. I have never seen anything like this.
I have been on the other end of this as a restaurant manager and if WE AS THE MERCHANT could not provide a receipt or prove that we did not overcharge, then there was automatically a chargeback. I know Discover or other banks would have done the right thing. Maybe Merrick is too small time or maybe they just do not care. Maybe they did do a chargeback on HERTZ and kept my money too.
Who knows? Also, avoid HERTZ at all costs.
They are crooks too. Just read their reviews or google HERTZ FPO.
I am Disciplined & Not Desperate

Merrick Bank Account Review
MONEY HUNGRY COMPANY
MERRICK DROPPED MY AVAILABLE CASH LIMIT
I've been a Merrick card holder for a little over a year (since Oct-2014).
Until recently, I have been more than satisfied with Merrick's servicing of my account. Keeping a really long story short, I ran into some problems with my credit after an injury drastically lowered my income a few years back and Merrick was one of the few companies to offer me an unsecured card with a respectable initial credit limit ($700) and a reasonable annual fee ($48 yrly) when compared with other offers (i.e., $300 limit and $75-$95 yrly) I was receiving at the time; additionally, I really enjoyed the fact that Merrick also gave me a cash withdrawal limit equal to my credit limit. (Having access to cash, when needed, really helped me out in certain situations.) I was careful to make timely payments and as I recall, since my account opened in October of 2014, with one or two exceptions I always paid off the entire balance each month.
Then came Christmas in 2015. My ex and I decided to go in together and we ended up buying two, top of the line saddles and an award winning, show quality horse. Needless to say, these purchases drastically reduced my positive cash flow for January 2016. I was only able to pay Merrick one-half of my balance, but after having paid off the entire balance for essentially a year previous, I had no concerns about any adverse actions on my account.
Little did I know that Merrick, in its wisdom, decided to severely reduce my available cash limit to well below my available credit limit after my payment was applied. Even though I had the credit available, Merrick would not give me access to the cash as they had done previously. I felt this was an unfair action to take and called Merrick. The person I spoke with advised it was a normal practice by Merrick to do what they had done. (NOTE: It had not been normal for the previous year I had the account open!)
I then asked about having my annual fee reduced and was advised that my fee was the lowest Merrick charged, which I later that this too was not true.
I applied for and received another company's credit card and have decided to let the Merrick card "cool off" for at least the next six months. I placed a roughly $24 credit balance on the Merrick card in order to take care of the next six monthly charges ($4), and when that is exhausted I will call Merrick one more time before deciding whether or not to close the account.
I'm disappointed there was zero loyalty from Merrick towards me after having been so timely with my payments in the past.
- No loyalty

It sounds like YOU'RE the one that's RACIST.
White, English-speaking American...? A customer service agent cannot determine what color your skin is over the phone...
Secondly, I know people don't give a shi* about the immigration laws in the United States anymore- however, you do in fact need to be able to speak English in order to immigrate to the US... Not that anyone is enforcing this law.
So, you're basically condoning the racist acts of the representative at this company. Just when you think there's hope for humanity and pray that people can look past the color of one's skin or the accent a person speaks in, we run into people like you and the representative my family had to deal with.
People may not care about immigration laws anymore or not enforcing it but does that mean the immigrants can be mistreated? I'm not asking to be put on a pedestal I'm asking for better customer service.
This bad experience just happened to be a racist interaction.
