Merrick Bank Holds Paymets
3 comments
As with most complaints, I mailed my payment and it didn't clear my bank for 14 days. I sent my Capital One payment the same day, same time, same PO and it cleared the bank 7 days before the Merrick one did.
When I called the lady was incredibly rude and asked me if I was accusing them holding payments. You're damned right I was. they should be investigated for fraud by the banking commission.
Does anyone have information on who to contact regarding this ridiculous way of doing business? I'm at a loss as what to do.

You need to contact the Consumer Protection
division of the Atate Atorney General's office and the Federal Banking Commission. I would also send my payments in using the tracking system with the USPS.
I am having exactly the same problem with Merrick Bank. Their last statement said it has come to their attention that payments are taking up to 14 days to "arrive".
Funny that other mail sent to that state does not take that long. I believe this is a strategy to force consumers to use on-line payments and to assess penalties in the form of late charges if you don't want to pay online.
contact the better business bureau where they are located and file a complaint.
